"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Milwaukee’s poverty and homelessness issues are vast and complex. But they are not insurmountable. There is help. There is hope. There are solutions. Since 1893, the Milwaukee Rescue Mission has tackled these issues head-on, serving the community with compassion and care. With excellence and expertise. All in Christ’s name.
We meet our hurting neighbors where they are. We offer practical assistance like food (more than 293,000 meals last year), clothing (nearly 53,000 items), and shelter (over 61,000 nights). And we offer transformative programs that equip them to get off the streets and turn their lives around for good. We offer short- and long-term assistance, education, pastoral care, help in overcoming substance abuse, job training and much more. We address the root causes behind their problems. And we offer spiritual development and enrichment, all based on the good news of the Gospel, which we believe is the key to lasting change.
We offer help in the present in order to give hope for the future.
Safe Harbor
The men’s programs at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission give our guests the strength and support to transform their lives. Our educational and vocational counseling, addiction recovery programs, biblical instruction, and life-skills training give them a ticket off the streets . . . and into a future brimming with potential.
Joy House
The women and children who come to us for emergency or long-term support rely on the safety, love and warmth of Joy House and its many services. We nourish and nurture them through training, education and spiritual guidance so they can make better lives for themselves — and for their kids.
Cross Trainers Academy
The best, most proven way out of poverty is a good education. We provide that to at-risk children through Cross Trainers Academy, where students are groomed for success and leadership through academics and life lessons about morals and character through Christian teaching.
