ASSISTANT PROGRAM COORDINATOR (EDUCATIONAL) – PART-TIME

The Joy House division for women and children is looking for a mature, Christian woman to fill a part-time, 2nd shift Assistant Educational Program Coordinator position. This individual will assist Joy House women and children in attaining program, education and career goals by providing instruction in Christian education, reading, writing, computer literacy and soft skills. Program participants will present with a wide range of literacy and education levels. As a result, the Assistant Educational Program Coordinator will need to use various teaching strategies and methods to meet all of the participants' learning styles. In addition, this position will focus on helping participants develop other skills that may prompt success in the workplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate participants' strengths and weaknesses as relates to their education skills.
  • Plan and teach lessons assigned by Program Coordinator to help participants gain the knowledge and skills needed to meet their goals, finding employment, developing soft skills, earning their high school diploma, etc.
  • Emphasize work etiquette skills that will help participants find and retain employment
  • Work with participants individually to challenge them and assist in overcoming barriers
  • Monitor participants' progress toward their goals and track on computer software
  • Help participants develop study skills
  • Report participant attendance, difficulties or odd behavior to Program Coordinator
  • Perform various non-educational tasks throughout Joy House

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mature, Christian woman
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in applicable field (social work, theology, sociology, adult education, child development)
  • 3 to 5 years work experience, preferably in a related field
  • Proficiency in spelling, grammar and writing needed to draft detailed instructions, service plans, correspondence, memos, and other required documentation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and techniques of teaching and instruction, especially to adult learners and/or those from a low-income background
  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptionally strong communication skills
  • Works well under pressure and manages stress effectively in a demanding and fast paced environment
  • Ability to deal with difficult interactions. Strong conflict resolution skills. Able to defuse potentially volatile situations with patience and tact
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Competent in the use of a computer, specifically MS Office Suite
  • Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Ministry Values
  • Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
  • Ability and willingness to share the Gospel
  • Have a genuine concern for the salvation and spiritual welfare of Milwaukee Rescue Mission guests

HOSPITALITY TEAM MEMBER – (FULL-TIME/PART-TIME)

The Joy House division for women and children is looking for mature Christian women, with good people skills and a strong heart’s desire to work with the homeless, to fill a part time 1st shift position, a part time 2nd shift position and full and part time 3rd shift positions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Housekeeping tasks, including but not limited to preparing snacks and lunches, laundry, vacuuming, mopping, emptying garbage, transporting guest belongings, etc.
  • Help to provide assistance and oversight to guest mothers and their children during meal time transport, daily activities and regularly scheduled meetings
  • Helping with the basic care needs of our guests
  • Helping guests understand and follow all house rules
  • Ensure area is safe and secure
  • Assist with clerical tasks, such as completing daily statistical forms and filing

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mature Christian woman
  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum weight of 50 lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions, good interpersonal skills, conscientious, flexible, team player

CASE WORKER – (FULL-TIME)

The Joy House division for women and children is looking for mature Christian women, with a heart's desire to work with the homeless, to fill full time 2nd shift positions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide one-to-one advocacy and case management to guests and their children
  • Assist with locating housing, employment and other resources necessary to gain self-sufficiency
  • Assess physical, spiritual and emotional needs of guests and assist with goal setting and direction in how to realize those goals
  • Provide spiritual mentoring
  • Work with co-workers as a team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all guests and maintain order throughout the shift

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mature Christian Woman with a servant’s heart
  • Undergraduate degree preferred in applicable field (social work, theology, education)
  • 3-5 years’ case management experience, preferably in a related field
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal communication and mentoring skills
  • Comfortable using computers and typical office and database software
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions, to be flexible and a team player
  • Ability to assist with resident quarantines and clean ups
  • Ability and willingness to share the Gospel
  • Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM statement of Faith and the MRM Ministry Values
