COMMUNITY OUTREACH SUPPORT STAFF - (FULL-TIME/PART-TIME)

We are looking to hire multiple full-time/part-time employees to assist in meeting the needs of our neighbors through events and programs, building relationships that will introduce/reconnect individuals to Christ and help them navigate through life. These individuals would be personable, creative and self-starting.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helping to develop, plan, and execute events for our community and school families
  • Working with individuals one-on-one as well as in various group settings, educating others in life skills, and helping them to set and reach goals.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College experience (preferably in Theology, Social Work, or Education) or 2-4 years of experience in outreach ministry, preferably in an urban setting.
  •  Hospitality/culinary background preferred, but not required
  • The ideal candidate would be a mature Christian who loves Christ, is compassionate, and has a heart for ministering to the poor. 
  • Necessary skills include excellent communication, organization, and time management skills, as well as basic computer/office skills, detail-oriented, creative, and hospitable.
  • Valid Driver’s License a must.
  • Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Ministry Values
  • Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct

YOUTH PROGRAMMING SUPPORT STAFF - (FULL-TIME/PART-TIME)

We are looking to hire full-time/part-time employees to join our Youth Programming (YP) team to help plan, facilitate, and support our YP activities here at the Mission.  This individual will work directly with the children living in our Joy House shelter as well as students enrolled at Cross Trainers Academy and other students in the community in inspiring them through the gospel to achieve their academic, social, and spiritual potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and supporting Youth Center and Joy House childcare activities
  • Proactively investing in relationships with program students
  • Managing student behavior issues according to YP discipline process
  • Creatively find ways to keep students engaged and participating
  • Transport students from school to the MRM campus
  • Provide seasonal support for community outreach events (Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A College degree is preferred
  • Experience in children’s or youth ministry at a church
  • Necessary skills include being passionate about youth and ministry, a flexible team player, a good communicator, culturally competent, organized, and working well under pressure
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours (full and part time positions available)
  • A valid driver's license is a must
  • Comfortable driving a 15-passenger van

UPWARDS SPORTS & COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR - (FULL TIME)

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Equip department is looking to hire a full-time male coordinator. Our Equip Program focuses on building strong families through education and resources to help them become stable physically, emotionally and spiritually. This position is located at our North Campus location, 1530 W Center Street and will be responsible for all of the Upward Sports program, as well as assisting with the development of Cross Trainers Academy (school) sports programs. This individual will also be a community outreach team member, our North Campus Engagement Champion, and will assist where needed with MRM functions and support the implementation of our North Campus strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Upward Sports Program Coordinator:

  • Develop Upward Sports Program into year round, multi-gender, multi-grade, basketball program. Potentially expanding program to football or soccer.
  • Assist with the Cross Trainers Academy (school) sports program development

North Campus Parent & Community Outreach Team Member:

  • Events:  Community building activities that support healthy family activities
  • Education—bible study, parenting, finances, family dynamics, job readiness
  • Resources—seasonal outreaches, as assessed/needed, referral guide, food, clothing, employment
  • Presence & PR—on-site, in the trenches community relations, promotional networker and canvasser to other Milwaukee Rescue Mission (MRM) approved collaborative partners—churches, organizations, etc.
  • Developer—as assessed within the community, build or connect with other community assets to further expand Equip program offerings.

North Campus Male Engagement Champion:

  • Fatherhood Initiative:  Dad Bible Study, Father/Son events, Dad events
  • Employment resources referrals/liaison

MRM/Equip Team Player

  • Help as needed, where needed with MRM functions
  • Support and implement North Campus Strategy by helping students graduate, get jobs, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A mature Christian man
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in the teaching and coaching of a basketball program preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

CITY CAMP POSITIONS (SEASONAL, FULL-TIME)

City Camp - Classroom Teachers

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission (MRM) runs a 5-week day camp for youth from grades K-8th at our North Campus, 1530 W. Center Street.  MRM provides students with breakfast and lunch, engaging curriculum in reading and math, Bible themes, and field trips on Friday!

We are seeking seasonal, full-time classroom teachers.  These individuals will be responsible for instructing students enrolled in our program by utilizing the appropriate curriculum in order to guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic and spiritual potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver curriculum
  • Create a positive Christian, educational atmosphere for students to learn in
  • Create activities designed to enhance curriculum
  • Develop and integrate incentives to keep students engaged and performing
  • Incorporate weekly, Biblical themes when appropriate or necessary
  • Manage student behavior by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance
  • Prepare and report assessments in Reading and Math at the beginning and end of City Camp
  • Communicate to City Camp Lead Staff any concerns with behavior, attitude, health, or development
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned classroom

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Valid Wisconsin teaching credential (preferred) or in process of obtaining
  • Experience as a public/private school teacher
  • Experience working with at-risk youth
  • Passionate about the holistic advancement of students’ education and spiritual lives
  • Proven problem-solving and crisis management skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

City Camp - Classroom Assistants

We are seeking seasonal, full-time Classroom Assistants.  These individuals will be responsible for supporting the Classroom Teacher they've been assigned to throughout the duration of City Camp and to lead students to and from activities throughout the day.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Assist Classroom Teacher in any and all tasks related to the functions of the classroom
  • Help plan and prepare curriculum and activities
  • Help maintain a positive, Christian educational atmosphere
  • Reinforce lessons presented by teacher by connecting and working with students one-on-one
  • Supervise students in class, between class, during lunch and recess, and on field trips
  • Maintaining a level of silence among students in all transitions outside of the classroom
  • Enforce class rules and approved disciplinary procedures
  • Keeping record of attitudes and behavior (score at the end of the day)
  • Periodically take pictures to use for end of City Camp program

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience working with at-risk youth
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently or in a team
  • Passionate about the holistic advancement of students’ education and spiritual lives

City Camp - Program Support Staff

We are seeking individuals to fill our seasonal, full-time Program Support Staff roles. These individuals will be responsible for supporting City Camp Lead Staff and classrooms in various functions and tasks throughout the duration of the summer program.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Receiving students from the Joy House and Front Lobby upon arrival in the mornings
  • Help with tracking attendance
  • Set up, tear down, and clean breakfast area in the mornings
  • Prepare activity areas for the mornings in the gym
  • Create and run activities held in Gym during open "block" periods
  • Assist with various group activities run by third-party organizations
  • Distribute snacks to each classroom at the assigned times daily
  • Periodically take pictures to use for end of City Camp program
