Cross Trainers Academy (CTA) is a 4K-12th grade Christian Academy in the heart of Milwaukee, serving students and families who are searching for a strong academic learning experience in a gospel-centered environment. As a Choice School, CTA is committed to offering a comprehensive, student-centered educational experience that serves the whole student. CTA has 325 students currently and will be expanding in 2019-20. We are seeking Christ-centered educators who are capable of helping students to develop their social-emotional, intellectual and spiritual potential.

MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER - (FULL-TIME)

This 6th-8th grade teacher will embody and demonstrate a Christ-like character and ensure that their students exhibit the same values. They will be expected to focus on instruction and adolescent development as well as consistently enforcing school-wide core values with an emphasis on academic development and Christ-like characteristics.  The individual will be responsible for communicating and collaborating with parents and other staff members to ensure each scholar is making academic and social progress while maintaining regular and accurate attendance and grade records.  In this role, they will attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service, committees, faculty, and parent meetings.  They must maintain a neat, organized and engaging classroom environment, fill in when needed for additional roles such as lunch, recess or dismissal, and fulfill all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree; current DPI license or willing to pursue license

• Strong instructional and classroom management skills

• Competent in the following platforms: Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar

• Commitment to the faith statements of Cross Trainers Academy and the Milwaukee Rescue Mission.

• Proven skills in leadership, group facilitation, communication, and data collection.

Preferred

• Experience in an urban teaching environment

• Track record of closing the achievement gap, making gains greater than 1AYP

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER (MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL) - (PART-TIME)

A Middle and High School substitute teacher Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher.  They will provide classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans and create a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.  The individual will maintain a safe and orderly environment, an established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned, and a professional appearance as an example to students.  They will be responsible for staying at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal and taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.   All substitute teachers maintain reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility while supporting the Christian faith and meeting Milwaukee Rescue Mission application requirements.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s Degree. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. An EA will responsible for assisting students with daily tasks and ongoing development under the direction of teaching staff.  They will supervise and assist students in classrooms, halls, cafeteria, gymnasium, or on field trips and present subject matter to students in small groups or one-on-one under the direction and guidance of the supervising teacher.  In this role, they will assist teachers to plan, schedule and implement daily program activities appropriate to the developmental level of the assigned children and inform teacher/principal of any concerns regarding a child’s learning, social interaction or physical function.  They will be responsible to participate in staff meetings, continuing education and in-service programs and fulfill all other duties as assigned.  Hours are from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily.

HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT - (FULL-TIME)

The HS assistant will be responsible for assisting students with daily tasks and ongoing development under the direction of teaching staff- supervising students in classrooms, halls, cafeteria, gymnasium, small high school study hall, or on field trips.  They will present subject matter to students in small groups or one-on-one under the direction and guidance of the supervising teacher.  In this role, they will be responsible for assisting teachers to plan, schedule and implement daily program activities appropriate to the developmental level of the assigned children and informing teacher/principal of any concerns regarding a child’s learning, social interaction or physical function.

They will participate in staff meetings, continuing education and in-service programs.  Hours are from 7:00a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily – They will assist in tracking student seniors attending MATC (Milwaukee Area Technical College) during their high school 12th grade along with all other duties as assigned.

LUNCH/RECESS ASSISTANT - (PART-TIME)

This position will be from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. daily, five days per week, and the responsibilities will assist additional staff members in the supervision of lunch and recess for students in grades 4K-5th grade. Occasionally supervision of students in grades 6th-12th will be involved as well. This person will supervise with additional staff, not by themselves. In addition, there will be some clerical components to this job assisting in data entry or records documentation. All responsibilities are designed to be completed between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. daily.

Applicants must have a high school diploma, GED or high school equivalent at a minimum. Previous experience in supervising children is a requirement. All applicants will be subject to a background check and drug test. All candidates moving forward in the interview process must be in alignment with the mission and values of the Milwaukee Rescue Mission. This position is part-time (4 hours daily) and, as such, does not come with benefits. This position is perfect for applicants who have early morning or late afternoon/evening commitments but have the middle of the day open. The greatest benefit to this position is working with children in a Christ-centered school environment. Applicants will be in a lively, noise-filled and energetic environment (school cafeteria) and must be comfortable with that. Applicants will also be going outside for part of the day when outdoor recess occurs (at 30* F or above).

FRONT OFFICE RECEPTIONIST - (FULL-TIME)

The Front Office Receptionist will answer and direct incoming phone calls, receive and check in parents, students, guests, volunteers in the front office, and communicate directly with school security (in proximity).  They will be responsible to assist students in the school health room (shared responsibility with other front office staff) and work with a team of four collaborating office clerical staff support members.  In this role, they will also assist students, parents and families through daily interactions and family engagement efforts (to be developed in collaboration with on-site community Equip program) while assisting school administrators as needed with daily responsibilities or ongoing projects.   Hours will be from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. daily, or 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. daily (to be decided with appropriate candidate finalist).  They will be responsible for other duties as assigned (this position is being re-developed as we re-position existing office team members. This is a team of four support staff.)
