Many people are thrilled to discover that including a gift to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission in their estate plan can significantly impact the lives of people in need long into the future.  There are many ways to give through an estate plan, including the following:

A gift in your will or trust continues to make an impact on struggling men, women and children in our community beyond your lifetime — and often allows you to make an even bigger impact than you ever thought possible. Whether you give a set amount or a percentage of your estate, your gift will help give our hurting neighbors hope for a brighter future.

If you’re looking for a tax-smart way to share your blessings with those served at MRM, consider a gift of stock. When you give appreciated stock that you’ve owned for more than one year, you can avoid capital gains tax and receive a charitable income tax deduction when you itemize.

Naming the Milwaukee Rescue Mission as a beneficiary of one of your assets, such as your retirement plan or life insurance policy, is a convenient way to help those who come through our doors in need. It’s as simple as filling out a designated beneficiary form through your employer or your plan administrator.

Another popular planned gift option, known as the qualified charitable distritution (QCD), or IRA rollover, is a simple way to make an impact  in the lives of our hurting neighbors and receive tax benefits in return.  If you are 70½ years old or older, you can give any amount up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission without having to pay income taxes on the money.

A donor advised fund is like a charitable savings account. You give to a single fund and qualify for a tax deduction, without immediately having to choose the charities you want to support. You then recommend grants to support the Milwaukee Rescue Mission or other charitable organizations without having to retain records of separate contributions.  If you have a DAF with Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable or BNY Mellon, click here to recommend your grant.

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s legal name is “The Milwaukee Rescue Mission” and the tax ID number is 39-0816851.
